On March 2, 2026, we discovered that a third-party service we use for feature flag management was returning errors when filtering flags by tag. This broke the Beta Features section of the Settings. Customer
Impact
Users were unable to see or manage Beta and Alpha features in their Settings dashboard. This meant no one could opt in or out of beta features during the affected period. Existing feature flag behavior was not impacted - if you already had a beta feature turned on, it kept working normally.
Steps to Resolution
We investigated and confirmed the issue was on our provider's side, not related to our configuration or credentials. We submitted a support ticket, they acknowledged the problem and worked with their internal team to fix it. Once they resolved it, we confirmed everything was back to normal in our monitoring.
Key Learnings
The issue had been going on for about 3 days before we spotted it. We're looking at ways to catch these kinds of third-party failures faster so we can flag them sooner, even when no customers report them.
