On October 1, 2026, a network outage on Mastodon’s side caused some posts sent through Buffer to fail. The outage affected accounts hosted on mastodon.social and mastodon.online. We identified 92 affected posts across 73 Mastodon channels. Some customers also had trouble reconnecting their channels.
Posts began publishing successfully again once Mastodon’s servers were reachable. We checked that publishing was working reliably before resolving the incident at 12:13 UTC.
We plan to improve how we track outages at third-party services so we can spot similar problems sooner.
We’re sorry for the failed posts and the disruption to your publishing.
